Justin N. KABERA, MSc, PhD
Dr Justin Kabera is a chemist from Rwanda born in 1968, 15th August. He is PhD holder in Materia Medica (specialized in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology), graduated in 2015, Tianjin-China.
Currently he is working with Rwanda Forensic Institute (RFI) as Chemistry Division Manager as Government Appointee since Feb 2019. He has more than 22Y of experience in Research and Development in area of Natural Products & Phytodrugs, with a great number of publications. Since 2015, He has been working as Lecturer of Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology at National Police College (NPC), and supervising students for their Bachelor degree in Forensic Sciences.
Among this responsibilities, he keeps collaborating with colleagues from University of Rwanda in many research projects, specifically on Poisonous Plants Project. As researcher, he belongs to many networks, such as NAPRECA, COMIFAC and he is an active member of Royal Society of Chemistry, Commonwealth Chemistry and the local representative of ALNAP (African Laboratory for Natural Products).
Since last year in Jul 2020, recommended by Rwanda Standards Bureau (RSB), he is expert consultant in standards development and Technical Committee member at African Organization for Standardization (ARSO) to harmonize Standards for Medicinal Plant products for trade facilitation in Africa in the context of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Recently, Aug 2023, he was admitted to be member of Editorial Board of International Journal of Forensic Science & Research. Above all, this year in May 2023, he was appointed as member of African Forensic Sciences Academy (AFSA), that the Office is hosted by Rwanda Forensic Institute( RFI).
