Forensic Microbiology Services
The Rwanda Forensic Institute (RFI) provides specialized forensic microbiology services to support criminal investigations, public health emergency response, biosecurity and biothreat preparedness, detection and identification of biological agents of forensic importance. Using advanced microbiological and molecular techniques, our experts identify, characterize, and interpret microbial evidence while ensuring the highest standards of scientific quality, confidentiality, and chain of custody.
Seized Drugs & Chemistry Services
Provides expert identification, characterization, and comparison of chemical substances and physical materials to support criminal investigations, fire and explosives cases, environmental incidents, regulatory investigations, and judicial proceedings through scientifically validated and legally defensible analyses.
Forensic Toxicology Services
The Rwanda Forensic Institute (RFI) provides forensic toxicology services to detect, identify, and interpret drugs, alcohol, poisons, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other toxic substances in biological samples. Our analyses support criminal investigations, medico-legal cases, public health, private individuals and institutions, workplace safety, and judicial proceedings.
AI & Digital Forensic Services
RFI provides scientific examination, preservation, recovery and analysis of digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, storage media, networks, cloud platforms and other electronic systems. The service supports investigations, court proceedings, cybersecurity incidents, dispute resolution and lawful data recovery.
Ballistics & Toolmark Services
The Rwanda Forensic Institute (RFI) provides expert forensic examination of firearms, ammunition, bullets, cartridge cases and toolmarks to support criminal investigations and court proceedings. Using validated forensic methods and specialized comparison techniques, our experts examine and interpret evidence to help establish links between firearms, ammunition components, tools and crime scenes.
